This is what we do!

The evening wedding venue, the 18th birthday party, the stag night or hen party... those venues when you are not sure what happened but really would like to know. We shoot these occasions as best as we can and shoot the things that just might be missed... Take this 18th birthday party for example... This is dad giving her his blessing... ( she was o.k by the way! just missed the whole of the party ).

It's not all doom and gloom, people really do have a fun night.. have a look!

                                                               Oh crap! wrong pic...

I am taking photo's?.... o.k whatever!!

"Shot To Shit" gave me the cigarette mum...for the photo obviously!!

Is that a Leica M2?

"Well I'm not happy right now...OK with you?"

"So... shall we call the band which direction?"

"Remember that 'thing' at your 18th birthday party? Did you see Aunt Hettie at the hen party last week? Where on earth were you when your mate Dan stood up and embarrassed himself in front of the entire wedding party?"

We're your extra set of eyes. We are the evidence catchers, the embarrassment police, we are...
SHOT TO SHIT

What's it all about?

We've had this URL for years now, just waiting for us to have the time and content to make it worthwhile. We wanted to talk about our love of Lomography and film photography in general but time just seemed to run away with us and it was far more fun collecting cameras and taking photographs than it was developing a web site.

Then we opened a shop selling vintage cameras and a few new digital ones (just to please the masses).

NO this is not the shop...

Then we wanted to explain just what it's all about and that's where we stumbled, or perhaps stuttered is more accurate, and came to a standstill. Looking around the Internet for inspiration the articles we found were often over-complicated and opinionated... then we found a gem of a piece written by Stephen Dowling at the BBC to mark the 20th anniversary of 'Lomography' as we know it today.

Lydney Dowling writes...
"It was a nervous time for film photography when digital cameras took off in the 1990s, and seemed set to take over entirely. But with some help from Vladimir Putin - then deputy mayor of St Petersburg - the little Lomo camera became a retro cult classic, and showed film had a bright future.

In 1991, a group of Austrian art students on a trip to nearby Prague found, in a photographic shop, a curious little camera.
Black, compact and heavy, the camera was rudimentary. The lens was protected by a sliding cover. Loading, focusing and rewinding were all done by hand.

After developing the shots, the students found it produced pictures unlike anything they had seen before.

The colours were rich and saturated, an effect heightened by the lens's tendency to darken the corners of the frame to create a tunnel-like vignetting effect, and there were dramatic contrasts between light and dark. The Austrians were hooked, and so were their friends when they showed them the results back home in Vienna. "

If you are at all interested in lomography, film photography (or perhaps even the origins of Instagram) then we strongly suggest that you check out the full article "Did the Lomo
camera save film photography?" by Stephen Dowling.

Dowling has also written a blog about Instagram Vs Expired Film which is well worth a read!

Then we had an idea and turned Shot To Shit into something different. Incorporating Lomography and film, we started taking shots of birthday parties and capturing all kinds of memories for you to look back upon...Lol

It started with my daughters birthday party, when she said "Dad I kinda want it freaky if you can?"

We actually made thankyou greeting cards out of the freaky pics that were shot and sent them to the parents. The kids loved them, the parents? well it's for the kids isn't it. It is a memory of just one birthday and a talking point for years be it good or bad Lol... ( Go for it!! )
